Exiting an aircraft, falling free, and landing under a deployed parachute. A typical sport jump exits between 10 000 ft and 14 000 ft, which gives roughly 40 to 60 seconds of freefall. Tandem jumps need no prior training. Jumping solo needs a license, and a USPA A license takes a minimum of 25 jumps.
Freefall acrobatics performed on a board fixed to the feet. The board adds lift and a rotation axis, so spins develop faster and are harder to stop than in normal freefall. It is an advanced discipline built on existing freefall skill, not an entry point.
Freefall in a suit with fabric between the limbs, trading vertical speed for horizontal distance. USPA sets a 200-jump minimum and a First Flight Course before a first wingsuit flight. The suit restricts arm movement, which changes both deployment and emergency procedure.
Jumping from a fixed object - Building, Antenna, Span, Earth - on a single parachute. There is no reserve and no AAD, deployment altitude is a fraction of a skydive's, and object strike is a live hazard from the moment of exit. It sits outside the FAA and USPA framework entirely, and site access is frequently unlawful. Experienced skydivers train for it specifically; it is not a progression that happens by accident.
